Core Features Of Gypsum Screw For Wood
✅ [The best screw for wood]
Coarse thread design: The coarse thread section strongly bites the wood fiber, improves the pull-out force, and prevents the gypsum board from loosening or cracking.
Self-TappingTip: No need to pre-drill, directly penetrate the wood, saving 50% installation time.
✅ [Super corrosion resistance]
Black phosphating coating or galvanized anti-rust coating optional: passed the ASTM B117 salt spray test, and the life is 3 times longer than ordinary screws.
✅ [Professional countersunk head design]
Bugle head: smoothly embedded in the surface of the gypsum board to avoid the protrusion affecting the subsequent scraping of putty or wallpaper.
Cross slot (PH2 cross head): compatible with mainstream electric screwdrivers, anti-slip design improves construction efficiency.
✅ [Environmental safety certification]
Compliant with RoHS standards, lead-free and carcinogenic, safer for indoor use.

Applicable Scenarios Of Drywall Screws For Ceiling
Not all drywall screws are suitable for wood. Sinsun’s drywall screws into wood are specially developed for home gypsum board partitions to outdoor anti-corrosion wood structures. One screw can solve the fixing needs of wood and drywall.
Designed for the fixed combination of wood and gypsum board (Drywall), it is suitable for the following scenarios:
1. Home decoration
Gypsum board partition wall: You can fix the gypsum board on the wood studs or wooden frames to build a lightweight partition wall.
Wooden keel ceiling: Fix the ceiling or gypsum board on the wood studs to avoid sagging or cracking.
Wooden background wall: Install decorative gypsum board or wood veneer.
2. Carpentry engineering
Customized furniture: Assemble cabinets, bookshelves, wooden wardrobes, etc., and hide the screw heads at the joints.
Stair reinforcement: Fix the wooden pedals and keels to improve the load-bearing stability.
Wooden door and window frames: Install gypsum board covering or sound insulation materials.
3. Outdoor wooden structure (need to be matched with waterproof gypsum board)
Anti-corrosion wooden pavilion/periphery: Fix the gypsum board sunshade roof or side wall.
Garden wooden fence: Enhance the wind resistance of the structure and hide the fixing points.
4. DIY and repair
Wall repair: replace loose old screws and repair hollow gypsum boards.
Handmade models: lightweight wooden structure splicing (such as display racks, decorations).
Drywall Screw For Wood Size Selection Guide
Through Sinsun’s multiple actual test results and customer feedback, the appropriate size is selected to match different application scenarios. Drywall Screw for Wood can significantly improve construction quality and efficiency and reduce material loss. It is recommended to save the size comparison table for reference at any time!
1. Length Selection
Golden rule: Screw length = drywall thickness + wood frame embedment depth (at least 1 inch/25mm)
| Gypsum board thickness | Wood frame thickness | Recommended screw length | Application scenario |
| 1/2 inch (12.7mm) | 2×4 wood (actual thickness 1.5 inches/38mm | 1-1/4 inches (32mm) | Standard indoor partition wall |
| 5/8 inch (15.9mm) | 2×4 wood | 1-5/8 inches (41mm) | High sound insulation/fire wall |
| Double-layer gypsum board total thickness 1-1/8 inches | 2×6 wood (actual thickness 1.5 inches/38mm) | 2 inches (51mm) | Outdoor structure/load-bearing wall |
2. Diameter selection
#6 (3.5mm): Universal, suitable for 90% of gypsum boards and softwood (pine, fir) combinations.
#8 (4.2mm): High load-bearing scenarios (such as suspended ceilings, stairs), or hardwood (oak, walnut) reinforcement.
3. Special scenario adjustment
Hardwood pre-drilling: If using #7 screws to fix hardwood, it is recommended to pre-drill 1.5mm pilot holes (depth is 1/3 of the screw length).
Thin board coverage: When fixing thin boards below 6mm, use 1 inch (25mm) screws to avoid penetrating the back.
Single-layer gypsum board (9.5-12.5mm) + thin metal keel (0.5-0.8mm), 25mm (1 inch) sheetrock screws are recommended to avoid excessive penetration, which is the best drywall screws for ceiling
Single-layer gypsum board + standard light steel keel (0.6-1.0mm), or double-layer gypsum board edge reinforcement.
32mm (1-1/4 inch) drywall screws are recommended, which are versatile and balance penetration and safety.
Double-layer gypsum board (total thickness ≥25mm) or composite ceiling with sound insulation cotton
38mm (1-1/2 inch) sheetrock screws are recommended for deep fixing to prevent the board from sagging.
Heavy metal keel (≥1.2mm) or wooden keel ceiling (higher pull-out resistance is required).
50mm (2 inch) sheetrock screws are recommended, which have ultra-high load-bearing capacity and are suitable for commercial spaces (such as shopping malls and office buildings).
Installation Guide
It is recommended to use an electric screwdriver with a speed of 800-1200 RPM and a PH2 cross bit to ensure that the countersunk depth is consistent. Avoid hammer drilling to avoid damaging the edge of the gypsum board
It is best to mark the position of the screws on the wooden keel at a spacing of 16 inches (40.6cm).
Align the screws with the marked points, pay attention to drilling vertically at 90 degrees, and press the screwdriver down at a constant speed to ensure that the countersunk head is 1mm below the board surface. If the material is hard, the torque should be lowered to prevent thread stripping or wood fiber tearing.
Spacing recommendation: one every 6 inches (15cm) on the edge of the gypsum board, and one every 12 inches (30cm) in the middle area.
⚠️ Notes
It is recommended to pre-drill 1.5mm pilot holes for hardwood (such as oak and teak) to prevent cracking.
Do not over-torque to prevent thread stripping or damage to the board.
High humidity areas (bathrooms, basements): It is recommended to apply anti-rust wax on the surface of the screws after installation.
Outdoor use: 2-inch screws + waterproof drywall are preferred, and the integrity of the plating should be checked regularly.
